“A Parking Lot with a View?”

A Parking Lot with a View ?

This first photo is how the Airport looked many years ago. Brings back old memories.

Well, we all like nice views, but parking lots don’t usually come with one. But, the soon to be completed new parking lot at the Guadalajara International Airport will have one with a good view of the surrounding countryside and city from the top floor.

Some of the new parking spaces are already open to the public and now there are multiple lanes leading into and out of the parking lot which will help out with congestion at peak times.I know at times I’ve had to circle for over half an hour just to get into the parking lot and once inside you just had a license to look until someone finally vacated a spot.

The new Terminal 2 lot is even pleasing to the eye (given it’s a parking lot) and comes with planters filled with nice looking agave plants.

The larger, (double the size of Terminal 2) three-level Terminal 1 lot is not completed yet, but looks to have only one more floor to go.

As a frequent visitor to the airport I’m happy that the worst part appears to be over. They have been working on something or another at the airport for the last 6 years, but that’s progress right?

Perhaps the next project will be a long term parking lot for folks who might like to leave their car while flying. At present this is not an option. But, I’m very pleased to see the new construction as this means that our area is growing and that means more jobs for everyone who needs one.

We’re blessed to have such a nice, true International Airport so convenient to Lake Chapala Ajijic (just 20 minutes away from Chapala).

What the new multi tired lot doesn’t come with is elevators so be ready to climb some stairs, but it has allocated a row of 10-15 wide, well-designed handicapped spots on the first floor.

The up and down ramps for cars in typical Mexican style are a bit skimpy for drivers of full sized pick ups or SUVs, so please be careful.
