“Are You a Boomer with Kids?”
We are beginning to have more and more younger people take an early retirement or semi retirement who can run their businesses on line from right here at Lake Chapala Ajijic Mexico. Many have school age kids and naturally are interested in schooling in our area.
The Lake Chapala Ajijic area boasts several bilingual schools with excellent academic and high moral standards.
Mexican public schools serve children from kindergarten through high school utilizing two sessions per day, a morning session and an afternoon one. Children go to either one session or the other, but not both.
Loyola Institute is located in San Antonio Tlayacapan, between Ajijic and Chapala. Loyola offers classes from kindergarten through 9th grade. The other school, Roosevelt School, is located west of Ajijic and offers classes through 8th grade. Both schools charge tuition.
Americans and Canadians with children attending the local schools have expressed satisfaction with the educational system because of the strong parental participation is encouraged, the variety of extracurricular activities is good, and there is an emphasis on values.
Other pluses are the kids are exposed to and learn about and from a new culture, but most of all, the kids become bilingual in the 2nd most spoken language in the world.
As for activities for school age kids, there’s horseback riding in La Floresta, a beautiful mature neighborhood, with wide streets near the shores of Lake Chapala, a waterslide park in San Antonio Tlayacapan and thermal hot springs in San Juan Cosala, west of Ajijic, with pools especially for school age kids.
Note: Please contact the schools directly for current grade levels, prices, and other details.
