“Legion Turns Tables on Chapala Cops !”
July 3, 2008

The men and women of the Chapala Police Department are regularly commended for their responsiveness in helping the Lake Chapala Ajijic expatriate community, but the Legionaries of Post 7 in Chapala have turned the tables on them.
They are now helping the Chapala Police officers by way of English classes held at the Police Station. There are approximately 50 officers enrolled. Legion member Tony Jackson and retired law officers from up North Jim Jensen and Leroy Vaughn are heading up the classes.
So soon the Chapala Cops should be able to tell “war stories” in two languages as well as be of more help to local Ex-pats.
Not to be left out, retired physician Bernie Metcalf helped by his wife, Lynn and friend Donna Williams (both retired emergency room nurses) are also helping to train the officers with special classes in first aid and CPR.
Our Hats are off here at Chapala Club to these fine men and women for helping those who help us.
