Red Angels Saving Lives at Lake Chapala!
July 16, 2008

Perhaps you’ve heard of the Green Angels of Mexico. Those are the men and women who patrol the Nations highways and help motorists in trouble. But, you’ve probably never heard of the Red Angels.
Well this is a term I’ve coined to add my Thanks to those expressed below in a recent “Letter to the Editor” published in the Guadalajara Colony Reporter July 12th, 2008.
The Red Angels I refer to are the Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics and Staff of La Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross. The below letter is just one example of the angelic work these folks do everyday in the Lake Chapala – Ajijic area.
Chapala Club salutes this fine organization and the work they do for the entire community.
“Dear Sir,
We want to express out sincere appreciation for services rendered Wednesday, June 12, above and beyond the call of duty by Chapala Red Cross workers. My husband suffered a stroke and was to be transported to Guadalajara for medical testing and then returned to Maskaras Clinic for follow up.
The crew of four acted not only professionally, but with care and kindness and knowledge of his condition and the necessities required to keep my husband comfortable and at ease throughout the transfer.
For those of us who are often so involved with our own activities, we need to take a moment and stop and say thank you and give a donation to the Cruz Roja. You never know when you, too, might need the services of this wonderful group that makes our lives more secure in a time of need; perhaps it won’t be for you this time, but for a friend or family members.
Bernard and Jean Bowden “
