Listen to USA & Candian Radio from Lake Chapala Free: Here’s How !

September 1, 2008

Well, There’s Chapala Club Radio and then there’s Internet Radio. What’s the difference you ask?

Well, Chapala Club Radio is what I call the audio recordings I’ve made and placed on this website for your entertainment and enlightenment about various aspects of living here at Lake Chapala – Ajijic.

And, while it does come to you over your internet connection; what most folks mean when they say “Internet Radio” are the feeds from a variety of radio stations that stream their programs over the internet to the world.

Radio

So, if  you miss your favorite radio station you listened to in the USA or Canada you can probably find it on line and listen to it right here at Lake Chapala – Ajijic.

Of course your computer will need a pair of speakers or you can use earphones.

What is really cool is the new cordless earphones in which a base station plugged into the computer sends the audio it receives from your computer internet connection to the earphones.

Your computer will need more than speakers or earphones however.  It must have a digital media player like “Windows Media Player,” “Real Player,” “WinAmp,” or Apple’s “iTunes” already installed.

So far so good, as most newer computers come with one or more of these pre-installed. If not, these players can be downloaded from the internet.

However, some of the radio stations may check your IP # (computer address)  to determine just where your computer is located on the globe and may reject your request telling you that they are not licensed to provide access to you.

To find out if you can listen to the stations you like from here at Lake Chapala – Ajijic log on line from a computer hooked up in our area and go to www.radio-locator.com

Here’s  one example of a direct link to  a Fox Radio news feed that works just fine from here at Lake Chapala – Ajijic.

I also enjoy listening to public radio from the USA via Internet here at Lake Chapala.

I also like Country and Western music. Now, as a Native Texan I of course expected to find some great Country and Western music from deep in the heart of Texas in the Texas Hill Country… and I did.

But, I also found some really great Country Music stations in of all places Australia.

So, the “take away” from this article is simply this: You probably don’t have to give up your favorite radio stations to live in our wonderful area.

The world gets a little smaller each day doesn’t it?
