Yes, You Can Water Ski at Lake Chapala – Ajijic !

October 3, 2008

Just a few miles out of Chapala on the road to the Chapala Country Club is a new facility which is set up to teach water skiing skill.

There’s even a ramp for the extra adventuresome.

There are lots around the course which are quite large at 1000 sq. meters or 10,763 Square Feet or approx ¼ acre.

So far no homes have been built there, but the below video shows off the place, along with the skills of the young Mexican men who seem to be having a great time.

Once in a while I do see water skiers on the main Lake along with Jet Boats and Jet Skis too.

I expect to see a lot more now that the lake is well on its way to being full.

We moved full time to San Pancho Mexico, just north of Vallarta. We still have our waterski boat back in California. Are there any inexpensive storage for boats?

  • Sid Grosvenor

Hi Kimberly, Thanks for your comments. I’m not sure the cost of boat storage costs here.

There is a yacht club which has boat storage facilities but not sure just how much they are currently charging.

If I can find out I’ll post it here. Perhaps someone else will see your post and answer your question.

You may also be able to find the answer by going to the web board assessable form the home page here at on the right hand side.

All for now. Thanks again, Siempre tu amigo, Sid

How much to come there & water ski or get lessons?

  • Sid Grosvenor

Hi Ves, Sorry, I don’t have this information. I’d recommend to try to web board on this site and ask this same question.

There’s what looks to be a water ski teaching facility on the road North East out of Chapala going toward Vista del Lago on the right hand side, but there’s no building, no sign or other information.

Let us know what you find out. If I learn of anything I’ll post it here. Sid

Hi Sid, My husband, Richard, and I are planning to move to the Lake Chapala area Dec 1st, upon his retirement, and rent for at least six months. Would you be able and willing to spend some time with us and ease our mind that this is something we really can do? We need someone to help show us the ropes. Should we rent a car for our time or use a knowledgeable taxi drive to shuttle us from area to area? Any input you have for us will be greatly appreciated. Shirley Doering
our tentative travel dates will be 7/20-7/25 or 7/27-8/1

Hi Shirley, Great Post. You’re on the right rack. You can do it and we can help.

The ChapalaClub Dream Team ( a special group of “Exclusive Buyers Only Realtors”) and I help folks like you all the time to find rentals, give rides here and there and in general do anything we can to be your new best friend here at Lake Chapala.

Send me an e mail to and we can work up a plan to find you the perfect rental. Neither I nor any of the Dream Team have any financial interest in any of the rental agencies nor do we accept referral fees from any of them.

We just know the best ones to work with and a few tricks not involving rental agencies to help you find a good rental within your budget. Looking forward to your e mail. Sid
