How to Stay Young at Any Age at Lake Chapala Ajijic !

November 12, 2008

The scientists tell us that exercising our body is not only good for our bodies but also increases blood circulation to the brain.

One of the joys of living here at Lake Chapala Ajijic is the stimulating environment … and this time I’m not talking about the wonderful year around weather which is great for physical exercise.

No, this time I’m referring to the joy of living with so many expatriates from all over the world in close proximity to each other.

You know more and more the medical community is coming to the conclusion that intellectual stimulation also helps keep us young. It seems the brain is not unlike your muscles. It needs exercise too to hold back the time clock.

The common language of the expatriate community is English since there are more Canadian and American retirees here than those from other countries, but those from other parts of the world who usually are bi lingual or tri lingual add greatly to the mix of ideas, philosophies, and traditions that make life here so much enjoyable.

This plethora of cultures mixed in with the local Mexican culture which itself is a blend of other cultures really keeps things lively.

It gives us a wide array of types of food to choose from, music to choose from and cultural events to choose from.

It gives us all kinds of clubs, social groups, and charitable groups, but there’s more.

With retired teachers, scientists, professors, and others who have spent much of there lives in pursuit of knowledge either as a professional or as an armchair life long learner, it’s only natural that we would also have more formal intellectual activities.

For example, the Lake Chapala Society’s first Learning Seminar of the season took place on Tuesday, November 4, at noon in the LCS Sala.

World on a string

Appropriately, on the United States Election Day, the program featured a discussion of the conflict between liberal and conservative ideas and ethics.

The seminars are scheduled for every Tuesday at noon and all LCS members are invited to attend and participate.

So, there you have it.

A simple combination of good clean mountain air, reasonable exercise, good and good for you food and wine, and plenty of cultural and intellectual things going on to lift our spirits and exercise our minds … is the secret to staying young at any age right here at Lake Chapala Ajijic Mexico.

Why not come join us. You can do it !

I can help.  E mail me right now while it’s on your mind or and let’s get started on your new younger life at any age.
