Harping For Love – “Love in Action” that Is !


Lake Chapala – Ajijic area audiences will have a wonderful opportunity to hear the lilting strains of the harp in concert Thursday, December 11, 7:30 p.m. at the Centro Sol y Luna. 

 

Irish artist Jacqueline Dolan, in town to visit with friends Monica and Mike Molloy, will donate proceeds from the concert to the Love in Action children’s shelter in Chapala.

   

Dolan, born into a musical family in County Tipperary, majored in music and studied voice, piano and harp in her university career.

 

She joined the Bunratty Castle Singers performing at Dunguaire Castle, then broadened her career with a trio specializing in traditional and Irish folk music that appeared all over Europe and eventually took the show to the United States and Canada.

 

Dolan also has appeared as a guest artist with the MinnesotaSymphony Orchestra and became the resident harpist at the Banff Springs Hotel in Albertaduring the summer months and in the winter months she performed at the Inverurie Hotel in Bermuda.

 

Performing throughout the Albertaregion in the Canadian Pacific Hotels, Banff Springs, Chateau Lake Louise, Jasper Park Lodge and other venues,  made periodic television appearances.

 

Her program here at Lake Chapala- Ajijic will reflect her versatility, with familiar folk songs, Broadway tunes, popular songs and classical offerings.

 

Tickets for the performance cost 150 pesos each and are available at the Animal Shelter in Riberas del Pilar and at the Lake Chapala Society. A no-host bar will open at 6:30 p.m.  

 

Centro Sol y Luna is located at Rio Bravo 10, directly across the street from the Villa del Arte restaurant.

In Other News:

On Sunday, December 7th at 2 PM the Lake Chapala Jewish congregation synagogue in Riberas de Pilar will host a Middle Eastern dinner and fashion show by Opus Boutique.   

The food and the fashions come with the 200 peso tickets, available at Diane Pearl Collections, Opus Boutique and Dr. Pinto’s opthamology office in Riberas. 

Proceeds will benefit the congregation and Love in Action children’s center in Chapala.
