El Dorado – Have You Found Yours?

I Found Mine. Read on to see if it might also be your El Dorado too!

El Dorado translates “The Gilded one” or I like better “The Golden One”.  We have our very own golden one or gilded one right here at Lake Chapala Ajijic Mexico.

Actually our ‘gilded one; is located on the Libramiento in the pueblo (small town) of San Antonio Tlayacapan which lies about half way between Chapala and Ajijic.

It’s our first large high rise condo tower (if you can call 6 stories a tower).

It’s situated on a site that once was the location of “El Oso Dorado” or the “Golden Bear” golf driving range named obviously for golfing great Jack Nicklaus.

I thought is was clever of the developers to tie the project name to the name for the old driving range.

The current structure is still some time away from completion although the reinforced concrete outline of the complex is now up to 5 floors and ultimately will be a six story complex.

Here’s a fairly slick video produced by the folks marketing El Dorado . If you like what you see in the video of course I’d be delighted as an Exclusive Buyers agent to represent your best interests at no cost to you.  Click here to see why I can do this.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the video, but I must tell you that some local ex pats are not impressed and feel that the small town ambiance of the area will be lost. I understand their feelings (really I do), but it’s located next to a new shopping center almost ready to open

and a short walk from the new WalMart… so at least in this immediate area the small town ambiance is pretty much gone being replaced by convenience and availability of merchandise which once was over an hour drive away.

At least for the rest of my life (my for seeable future at least) there will be plenty of small town ambiance in Chapala, Ajijic, San Juan Cosala, and Jocotepec to name just a few of the nearby picturesque small towns and villages along the North shore of Lake Chapala.

I believe that our area has a nice balance of old time hospitality, small town warmth, and English speaking local people to make most North American retirees feel very comfortable.

Could you live better less expensively in some other part of Mexico? Well of course that depends upon just what your idea of “better” is.

I personally would not at this point of my life want to “go native” as much as I love the culture and yes, the language of Mexico too.

As you may know from other articles I’m married to a wonderful Mexicana and I hope to become a citizen here some day.

My Spanish is good enough that now I don’t need to find English speaking shop keepers and in fact I speak to the ones I know are bilingual in Spanish (to practice) and to demonstrate that I respect their language. So, I could no doubt do fine in a more rural off the beaten path part of Mexico, but then I would be giving up the interaction I enjoy with other North Americans.

So, I’ve found my El Dorado right here at Lake Chapala. I believe that I have the ‘Best of Both Worlds’.

If you’d like more information about my El Dorado (anywhere at Lake Chapala Ajijic Mexico) I’m as close as your telephone or computer keyboard.

Just click on this sentence to contact  me.

I look forward to welcoming you to my world in person and giving you a gratis 4 hour tour of beautiful and affordable Lake Chapala Ajijic Mexico.

Siempre tu amigo, Sid
