July is a popular month for folks wanting to escape the hot weather in the Southern USA so finding a room will not be easy for your friend for a week close to your area. I have a friend who rents nice private rooms with private bath and a small refrig. in the room, a TV and the use of a shared kitchen and laundry facilities for about $20 a day. Her place is on Hidalgo in Chapala and she would need to catch a bus at the front door and ride down to Ajijic. Perhaps one of our club members will have a better idea. Hope this helps a little.
