What Color is Your Slide? Is it in the USA, Canada, or at Lake Chapala ?
A few days ago, I received the following story from an Internet friend.
“Last Sunday was hot and beautiful in San Diego.
My two boys and I decided to go swimming.
We drove thirty miles to a pool because that pool had two huge
water slides.
One of slide was a green slide.
( the slow and safe slide )
And the other slide was a blue slide.
( The fast and exciting slide )
Alan, my six-year-old wanted to go on the slides as soon as we got
there.
He first went on the green slide.
He loved it.
He did it three more times.
Every time Alan went down the green slide, I would go down the blue
slide.
The blue slide shoots you down like a rocket.
The blue slide has more twists and turns.
The Blue slide is scary at first.
The green slide is safe.
The green slide is predictable.
The green slide can be boring.
Just like a comfortable old shoe.
I asked Alan if he was ready for the blue slide.
He said, “no, I’ll just go on the green.”
I said, “come on, you’ve got to try the blue slide.
The blue slide is awesome, you’ll love it.”
He said “I’m going to do the blue slide when I’m nine”.
( Two years from now )
And then Alan looked at me and said..
“Dad, I’ll go on the blue slide, but on one condition . .
As long as you catch me at the bottom.
I said “I’ll be there for you at the bottom”.
And he went down the blue slide.
And I caught him with open arms at the bottom.
And he was not afraid of the blue slide any more…”. .
So, his story made me think that the green slide which seems safer, is like living in the USA or Canada.
And, if you substitute “high cost of living, bad weather, and high taxes” for “boring” in my friend’s e mail description of the green slide; it’s like continuing to live in the USA or Canada.
When, with a little courage (with someone to ‘catch’ you at the bottom of the blue slide like yours truly) you could be sliding down the exciting blue slide to a lower cost of living, great year around weather, and low taxes right here at Lake Chapala Ajijic, Mexico.
So, if you’re interested in trying out the Blue slide with me at the bottom to catch you, to show you how to manage your trip down the slide, and even hold your hand (so to speak) on your way South to Lake Chapala Ajijic… as the song says, “I’ll be there”
To take the first steps up the ladder to check out the blue slide just e mail Sid@ChapalaClub.com .
Put “Blue Slide” in the subject line to get my attention so I can give your e mail priority attention and we can get you started up the Blue Slide Ladder to a whole new exciting, low cost, luxury lifestyle not unlike those of the rich and famous… but on a pension.
