Weekend Get a Way from Lake Chapala, Mexico (Part 1)

April 23, 2011

We recently spend a nice week end at Leon, Gto which is a beautiful  colonial city about 1.5 hours from Lake Chapala.
Leon is the 7th largest city in Mexico and famous the world over for its leather industry and in particular its fine shoes.
We stayed right in the middle of the very congested leather sales center area.
Every where you walk in this section of the city there are shoe stores and leather wear on display. Lots of sidewalk shoe sales men too.
No film of this part of the city as it was just too congested to try and walk and video at the same time..
The most beautiful part of this bustling city of 1,137,465 people is the Central Historical District, so we left our car in the safety of the hotel garage and taxied there.
We took taxis regularly from one part of the city to another. You can take a taxi ride with us in the upcoming Part 3 Video of our Get a Way.
For now, sit back and relax and enjoy a stroll with me as your guide around the Centrral Historical District of Leon, Gto. Mexico.

Hi Dan, Thanks for the nice comments. Stay tuned for part 2 and 3 of our Leon trip.

The prices in Leon were, as far as I could tell, about like here at Lake Chapala. Yes, I ws impressed how clean everything was in the historical area and in general.

The commercial leather center was not nearly as nice, but great prices on anything made of leather.
