The Good Old Days are Not Gone… They just changed Location

Do you ever think about the days gone by not that long ago to most of us?
I’m thinking of a time before 9/11, before the PATRIOT Act, and before the banking crisis, a time when you could have a nice lunch or go to the movies for less than $5.00.
Back then you could put money in a CD (certificate of deposit) and easily beat inflation at least by a little. Well, guess what, the “good old days” might be gone in North America, but they still exist at Lake Chapala, Mexico.
I love my life here so much that I never miss an opportunity to share my good fortune with anyone who will listen.
That’s why I used to write a newsletter to family and friends I called “ChapalaChat” and before that when I lived in Guadalajara I called it “The Gab from Guadalajara”.
Then, I was introduced to the world of E – Zines and the rest is history as they say.
For those of my friends who live here and may be reading this and thinking, Sid, be quiet, stop telling the world about Lake Chapala. Just let it be … “we three and no more”.
Sorry, Charlie it’s too late for that. Let’s just be careful who we tell and how we tell them, so we don’t spoil the broth.
We just want to tell the ones who will respect the native culture and remember we’re all guests here and should act like it.
Do we want to make constructive changes without destroying what brought us to these friendly shores? Of course we do. Our hosts want the same thing.
That’s why I do my very best to attract, “The Right Folks” to share what’s still one of the best kept secrets in the world. I’m working on a book about our “secret place” now.
It’s a slow process. I want it to be not just a good book, but a great book and so I’m not sparing the expense and I’m taking the time needed to make it a class act.
If it’s the success I expect it to be, it will create lots of jobs for local people, will put a few bucks in my own pocket, and help a lot of Baby Boomers find their place in the sun, without breaking the bank.
No need to wait for the book, (although it’s worth waiting for).
You can come on down now and I’ll do my best to share my insider insights, my coveted secrets, and my practical experience of living here for more than 10 years and visiting often before that.
My mission is to be your trusted advisor and to separate the hype (both good and bad hype) from the reality of life here. I want you to have the best information available so you can make the best choice. Quite frankly, you may learn our area is not right for you.
And… that’s OK. We only want people here that it “is” right for.
I don’t help people because I’m searching for a fast buck. Much of the time I don’t get paid at all. I have a comfortable pension and need not work at all. But, when you love what you do it doesn’t seem like “work” at all.
I admit I lose sales along the way and it costs the small part of the commission I could have earned. That’s OK too, because I’d rather not get paid than get paid and have an unhappy Ex Client.
I’ve been blessed with a number of clients who have been referred to me by other clients and that trend continues.
In summary, I want to invite you to come to Lake Chapala and see if our area might be right for you.
It’s not right for everyone who comes of course, because quite frankly it’s not like North America, but everthing is cheap and everyone speaks Spanish.
What it is … is one of the absolute best retirement destinations in the world where over 31 different countries are represented, and where many of the local Mexican people do speak English… but, it’s still Mexico which means that you may have to adjust your thinking a little to fit in happily.
Retirees who our area is right for relish the majority of the differences and they’ve found “Workarounds” for the few things that they wish were more like up North.
Come join us for the best of all worlds in a truly inspiring International Community of ExPats.. You really can have it all. Great weather, great prices, great medical care, great friends, great food and more.
And, it’s all just a few hours from most of North American by air from our nearby International airport (symbol GDL)… all for an estimated 35 to 40% lower cost of living than most of North America.
Let’s get started today. You can do it. I can help.
If I did my job in this article hopefully you’ll want to get in touch with me. Here’s how.
E- mail me while it’s on your mind to
and please put “Get Started” in the subject line so your e mail will stand out of the hundred plus I get everyday so I can find your e mail fast and answer you right away.
All for now, Siempre tu amigo, Sid
