Show Me The Green! So, he did.

May 18, 2013

Hi, Today I want to share some free therapy with you.

Enjoy a break from your hectic day or enjoy a morning cup of Joe and take a few minutes to calm your soul, bath your eyes in beauty, and Experience the Green at Lake Chapala.

You can buy a variety of great photo shows like this one produced by my friend and fellow retiree who goes by the name, Happy Jackson. His website appears briefly at the end of the video.

OK, Now, remember, R E L A X, and Imagine living in such a magical place. I can almost smell the freshness of the morning after a cleansing rain during the night. Not sure the time of day the scenes were shot but it looks to me like they were shot in morning light.

Disfrute! (Enjoy!) Tu amigo, Sid

Well you’ve go me hooked on an exploratory trip to Lake Chapala – now I just have to get my wife on board!!

  • Sid Grosvenor

Hi Don, Great./ Here’s a suggestion. Treat the trip as a learning vacation.
The worst case scenario is that you will have had a fun, interesting, and

inexpensive vacation… and may discover the perfect retirement place where
you can live out your golden years in luxury around people jlike you, but with enough difference to make it more stimulating. It’s no sun city. More like interesting, inexpensive, and fulfilled city where you get to choose the type of life style that’s just right for you.

Stay in touch, We want to be your guide. We’ve lived at Lake Chapala for over 10 years and it keeps getting better.

    Tu amigo, Sid

  • Fran Yates long would it take to fly from Houston to Guadalajara ? Then isn’t it an hour drive to ajijic (spelt wrong) ? We r thinking about coming in Feb when it is cold here.

  • Sid Grosvenor

Hi Fran, It’s less than 3 hours. I usually fly out of Dallas. You can see the duration when you check for flights. B and B costs will be higher because this is their busy season, but come then if it’s best or you.

The taxi ride from the airport (GDL) Guadalajara International is about 30 to 40 minutes. Buy a ticket inside the terminal and tak it outside to the taxi. The ticket should be about $35-$40 USD in pesos. You can change dollars for pesos in the airport lobby. There are 3 places to do this. They’re competitive. Check each place to get the best rate.

Have instructions as to where you want to go written in Spanish for your taxi driver unless it’s a well know hotel or B and B especially if you arrive after dark. This saves the driver and you time.

You can also get cash out of ATM machines at several places after you arrive. I’d avoid the ATM machines at the airport just to be extra safe. We have ATM machines at all the banks and at WalMart and Farmcia Guadalajara in Ajijic.

Hope this helps. You can send me an e mail at if you need more detailed information. Tu amigo, Sid
