Taking Responsibility for Your Retirement at Lake Chapala

I recently got an e mail from one of my mentors, Jack Canfield. Here’s part of that e mail,
“Dear Sid, In 1969, I had the good fortune of learning the most fundamental principle of success: Taking 100% responsibility for your life.

I was working for W. Clement Stone, America’s premier success guru. When I was completing my first week’s orientation, Mr. Stone asked me if I took 100% responsibility for my life.

“I think so,” I responded.

“This is a yes or no question, young man,” he replied. “Either you do or you don’t.”

Jack’s e mail went on to tell me about a course he was going to be teaching, but it made me think and then answer the question like I think most of us would answer it, if we were to be brutally honest with ourselves. “No, not totally”.

Just because most of us are not doing so is no reason not to strive to do so.

The other point is that we don’t have to go it alone. That was Jack’s message to me. And, that’s my message to you.

I can help you to take Responsibility for your Retirement Life, especially if it might Involve Lake Chapala, Mexico. There’s a lot to know. Lots of decisions to make.
Probably one of the most, if not “the” most important decision is the Realtor you choose.

Quite Frankly, we live here, we value our reputations and we can usually spot someone who our area is not right for. We will candidly tell them so.
If our area is not right for you, we all loose if we sell you a home anyway. You’re unhappy, you spread negative information about us and about the area. That’s a lose, lose situation.

No, we’re not a high pressure sales types that brow beat our clients into making a decision that’s favorable for us alone.
Some of the agents here are, unfortunately like that.

They somehow seem to survive, at least for a time. Most of the Realtors here at Lake Chapala are not of that type. They do a good job, but my team and I have taken Real Estate Service to a new high.
We’ve agreed to become, “Exclusive Buyer’s Only Realtors”. We rarely if ever list a house for sale. If a friend insists, one of us on rare occasion may offer to list their house for sale, but we ALWAYS DISCLOSE that and will not represent both sides of the transaction because we believe that this is major conflict of interest and just do not do it.

Most agents that list multiple homes for sale are very willing to “try and represent both sides”. Some disclose this. Some don’t. I’m not saying that those that don’t do so are crooks.

They’re not, they’re my friends and colegues…we just agree to disagree on this point.

My team and I have voluntarily given up half the potential commission we could earn on a sale in order to remove any doubt about just who’s best interest we truly represent.

Another thing we do not do is to favor one listing agency’s listings over another. We’ve agreed to receive the same small portion of any commission received, no matter which agency listed the property.
Some agencies pay their agents a higher percentage of the commission if their agent sells an “in house” listing.

The listing and selling Realtor’s hoped for sale is to sell a listing he/she procured and get the maximum commission in their pocket that’s possible. In other words … Sell their own listing, if not one of their own, at least one of the listing of the firm they’re employed by.

We’re different. We’re independent contractors and use one of the best area Brokers to close sales for our clients.

Each of us on the team own homes here. We each have secure pensions and don’t “have to work”.  We’re from the USA and Canada so we understand your wants, needs, desires and culture, because it’s our own.

So, we sincerely want to be of service, to be your new best friend at Lake Chapala.. and not just about real estate. We’re pretty much a one stop shop and can answer your questions on almost any topic about life at Lake Chapala. If between us, we don’t know the answer we’ll help you find it.

Which brings me to my last point; no need to wait to come to Lake Chapala before our help starts.
