2014 Mexican National Chili Cook-Off at Lake Chapala-Ajijic

Hi Everyone, Well it’s that time of the year again. Time for folks who love Chili from all over the world to come right here to Lake Chapala – Ajijic to taste the best Chili in the World.

This is not some minor event and each year it gets bigger and better. Even if you’re not a Chili aficionado you likely will find one of the many blends (many with secret ingredients) to delight your taste buds).

The 2014 Mexican National Chili Cook-Off charity chili challenge will take place February 14, 15 & 16 at Tobolandia in Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico.

Back by popular demand this YEAR THE SALSA COMPETITION RETURNS!!!!!!

Too late to sign up for competition for this years event as registration time is past. (Sorry this event crept up on me I’ve been so busy helping new comers to our beautiful area.)

Friday, Feb. 14/14 is the Margarita Competition. There will be ten competitors. Any variety of Margarita is acceptable and will be judged by the public. Margarita awards will be trophies and certificates.

Saturday, Feb. 15/14 is the Chili & Margarita Competition. There will be ten competitors for each event. Any variety of Chili or Margarita is acceptable and will be judged by the public. Chili & Margarita awards will be trophies and certificates.

Sunday, Feb. 16/14 is the Salsa Competition. There will be ten competitors. Any variety of Salsa is acceptable and will be judged by the public. Salsa awards will be trophies and certificates.

As in past years, event organizers will furnish all tasting supplies: Palate cleansers, cups, spoons, napkins and of course, ballots. They will also supply the tequila for the Margarita competitors. You just need to furnish enough Chili (5 gallons), Salsa or Margaritas to satisfy more than 500 hungry & thirsty voters and it can be prepared in advance.

In recent years there have been a number of last minute cancellations and no shows. This year Salsa and Chili competitors who attend and compete will have their entry fees refunded. There will be no refund for Margarita competitors as they have their tequila supplied as part of their entry fee.

So, if you’re going to be here soon or already are here this is a must see, visit and taste event. If not, put it on your list of not to miss events for 2015.
