Kayak Club at Lake Chapala – Ajijic Celebration

July 31, 2014

Hi Everyone,

Here’s the latest from the Kayak Club. Each year the club gets bigger and better!

Hope You enjoy the update, Siempre Tu Amigo, Sid

The below is a quote from there posting on Facebook.

“To celebrate the 3rd Anniversary of the Lake Chapala Kayak Club we are sponsoring a day of Kayaking!

We invite you to meet at 8:30am Sunday July 27th on our beach! You choose either a 2-3 hour paddle to the middle of the lake and back, or a 4-5 hour paddle across the lake and back!

Everyone is invited! Rookies and pros! There will be experienced club members there to help, along with rescue staff in case of emergency.

After the morning paddle, we invite you to stay for lunch if you would like! We will have our brunch buffet at only $99.

After lunch at around 2pm there will be a kids kayak class, led by the Lake Chapala Kayak Club! Kids will get to learn to paddle free, rotating every twenty minutes!

***If you have a kayak please help out by lending it for the kids to use! Also we need child sized vests.

***The Lake Chapala Kayak Club meets at Maria Isabel Restaurant at La Vieja Posada every Thursday at 12 noon for lunch! Come out this Thursday to learn more and/or help with the event!

Thanks for your support!”

This sounds fun. I was researching kayaking at Lake Chapala when I found your youtube video, now I’ve happened onto this. Oh, by the way my name is Mike. My wife and I are hoping to head that way and spend some time at Lake Chapala for 6 or more months. I’ve been researching rental properties.

Hello, Kayakers! My name is Garrett and my wife is Sharon. We love to kayak (flat water to class 1 and 2 … maybe a 2+/3-. We are visiting in February and that visit will determine if we move to the area or another in Mexico. Right now Lake Chapala sounds great. We will be looking at both homes to rent and to own. One question is if the lake is polluted can one safely kayak? Another is are there rivers feeding the lake or in close proximity for kayaking.

Hi Garett, Thanks for your note.

Our Lake is a natural lake and is fairly shallow. The water is NOT
polluted, but is cloudy most o f the time.

We have a Kayak group here but I do not have current contact info for
    the group currently.

A few years ago the group crossed the Lake from our North shore to the South shore (About 10 miles I think).

I think the club had about 20 to 25 members then. Not heard much about
them lately. Hope you can make contact. The club president’s first name
    at that time was Howard.

All for now. I’m a BUYERS’ ONLY Realtor (the only one) and do not list homes, but I do belong to our local Realtors Association here.

All for now, Tu amigo (Your friend) Sid Grosvenor
