/>Hi Everyone, Sid Grosvenor here with another post to keep you guys up to speed on the latest at Lake Chapala – Ajkijic, Mexico.

I get a lot of questions about gyms and exercise programs here at Lake Chapala – Ajijic, Mexico.

There are several exercise groups in the area. I just take a brisk walk several times a week along the Chapala Malecon and that keeps me in trim. I weigh the same as when I graduated from high school over 50 years ago, so I’m doing OK for an old guy.

I think just walking is likely the most popular way to stay fit and with the great year around weather, lake and mountain vistas you get dose of medicine for your soul as you take your walk.

But, the demand for even more options has produced a new group that recently opened on the North shore road (carretera) between Ajijic and Chapala (the city). The place looks nice, and they have a great looking web site.

I found out a lot more about them from their website ( and wanted to share what I found… so I quoted the below info from their site.

Yoga and Pilates in Ajijic, Mexico!

At Drishti Center we make yoga and pilates approachable for everyone. It doesn’t matter what age you are, or whether you are a beginner or an expert, or inflexible or have an injury. We offer programs for all levels with a highly qualified team of instructors. There is a place for everyone at Drishti Center because we believe everyone deserves to reap the benefits yoga, pilates and wellness have to offer. We will guide you through an internal journey of self knowledge and well being resulting in good health, both mind and body.

What you can expect…

A balanced flow between beginner, intermediate and if you choose, advanced yoga postures. We work in transitions; our style is based on understanding the natural kinesiology of the body, for every contraction there must be an expansion.
We teach our students to listen to their bodies and never go beyond their limitations. Safety is a very important element of our studio.
An understanding that Yoga goes beyond a workout. Our students receive spiritual and meditative benefits helping them to explore the present moment and have a healthier mind and body.
Flows in Hatha, Yin, Restorative and Ashtanga styles. Our classes are never the same. We offer a range of flows designed to work all body parts bringing a natural balance.
We include meditation, chants, and Pranayama breathing techniques.
Of critical importance to us is making sure your technique becomes flawless with practice. We do NOT teach a style of Yoga that has become only physical and empty, with dangerous transitions or careless teaching.
Expect punctuality and a clean and fully equipped studio, with mats and different props such as cushions, bolsters and straps.
You will be relaxed and feeling rejuvenated after class.

We practice yoga in peaceful professional studio. All of our instructors are of a high caliber of both training and character. Please feel free to contact us here.

Drishti Center isn’t only about yoga. We will also be offering Pilates, Qi Gong, Thai Yoga Massage, and more! At the moment we have a very talented Pilates instructor on staff: Michaela Sirbu. Michaela brings many years of experience and expertise to the Center. Here is a short description of what she will be offering:

The New York Pilates Method
Mat and Foam Roller Classes for Body Conditioning and Rehab

The New York Pilates Method has been successfully taught to people from all walks of life and every level of ability for nearly 100 years. During WW II it was used as a method of rehabilitation for soldiers suffering from war injuries or from systemic weakness and illness. At the same time it was used by athletes and dancers to enhance their body’s efficiency, stability, and endurance.

Today, although many variations of Joseph Pilates’ fitness program are being offered, the authentic New York Method has proven the test of time. The phenomenal results of all those who use the original Method is a testimonial to its effectiveness.

Who can benefit from the Pilates Method?

Everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or physical challenges, can improve their total health and well-being with The Pilates Method. The exercises can be selected and tailored for each individual’s needs when they begin and will evolve and grow as the body strengthens. The Pilates Method is gentle enough for back pain sufferers and challenging enough for Olympic athletes.

Pilates is a powerful complement to other treatments in the rehabilitation of a range of conditions, including lower back pain, scoliosis and joint injuries. This exercise system also produces positive results in the treatment of arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus and neuromuscular conditions.
