I like a tub too, but you’re right that most older homes and many newer ones don;t come equipped with a tub.

That being said it would not cost a lot to convert most showers into a tub given the low cost of labor here. Of course you’d have to get permission to do this with a rental.

Hi Frank, There is always something to do here. WE have 80 different English Speaking organizations at last count.

There’s the Lakeside Little Theater, Life Long Learning classes, dance classes, gyms, a writers group, art groups and classes and the Lake Chapala Society with thousands of members, lots of daily activities etc. etc.

There are clubs with live bands and dancing, a new sailing club, gold, tennis, swimming etc.

We’re located very well here to be able to travel by car the or bus or drive to the Pacific Beaches and to a number of charming Colonial Cities like Guanajuato.

Each year we have younger and younger retirees coming to relocate. The last few homes I’ve sold have been to couples in their 50′s.

So, come on in, the Water’s Fine.

Hi Sid, considering your area to relocate. I have alot of questions some other time except these two.What is the average age of the american living there (I’m 50) and am I going to get bored???? I live in so fla (saint lucie county)thanks in advance

Hi Sid: I have greatly enjoyed reading all the information on your site and have dreamed for sometime of getting to Lake Chapala to check it out for our near retirement.

My husband and I plan to stay in Ajijic for 2 weeks sometime in either September or mid October but are having trouble finding available acommodations to rent. I know you are in the real estate business but wondered by chance if you or anyone you know might be aware of someone that has a nice home for rent with a bathtub from $400 to $500 for the two weeks total? I have noticed most places have showers only. If you don’t have that information available, that’s okay. We will keep looking.

We look forward to meeting you when we get to Ajijic.

If you are in Canada now or going back to Canada before you move, buy your Star Choice dish and receiver in Canada. It’s much cheaper! You will need someone here to install it and set you up on an account. There are a number of people here locally who can do that for you. Ask around. Star Choice is now owned by Shaw but that doesn’t affect anything.

Hi, Yes, there are boarding facilities at a local vet I understand. The vet is next to the animal shelter in San Antonio Tlayacapan right on the main highway.

Another newer place is just East of Ajijic on the highway and they advertise boarding, Their website is http://www.animalcare.ws
The telephone listed when dialing from the USA would be 011 52 376 766 3062 (M – F from 10 a,m, until 4 p.m. and Sat. 9a.m. until 2 p.m.)

We have purchased a home in Ajijic with a closing date of June 30/10. Someone mentioned you are best to by the Star Choice box and remotes and have it installed in Ajijic. Apparently, Star Choice has been taken over by Shaw. I can’t seem to figure out what to buy/do here to have good TV coverage in Mexico.

Can you please provide me with some advice in this regard?

HI Andreas, I suspect that you could just have your meds (non commercial quantities) shipped to you here by a friend in Canada. Theere may be duty assessed. I would not try and have sent any controlled substance (many different pain medications) here.

I must admit to being surprised that your meds are not available here in Mexico. Have you asked your doctor about alternative meds that might be available here? Sometimes there are similar forumulas that may work as well or even better and usually at a lower price.
