December 21, 2011
Hi All, Greetings from Lake Chapala, Mexico the home of ChapalaClub.com
Well Christmas is in the air. The stores are all gearing up to part us from our pesos with lots of Christmas decorations to get us in the giving mood. Lakeside charaties are are all working hard to be sure that even the less fortunate among us have a good Christmas, Christmas is a big deal in most of the world, but it is really a big deal in Mexico where faith and familly come together at this special time of year.
One of the most prevelent icons is that of the Virgin Mary which goes by many diffrent names. One of the most common is the Virgin of Guadalupe.
In my research for this post I found a very interesting account of a religious service in Ajijic, Mexico. If you enjoy history you'll love it. If you're Catholic you'll love it. If you just enjoy the study of culture you'll love it too.
So, please click the this link and via the magic of the internet you'll be transported to a wonderful story of the faithful practicing their freedom of worship in Ajijic and in the Mountains above.
